May 2020 Main Challenge - FUNNY & STRIPES

Welcome back to another new Main Challenge at More Than Words!
This month we're lightening things up by focusing on the FUNNY things in life!

National Scrapbooking Day falls on the first weekend of May.
To celebrate, we're going to feature some of our
favourites from the past in a special post.  Stay tuned!

Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.

Word Inspiration - Funny
Creative Challenge - Stripes

HELPFUL TIPS FOR THE CHALLENGE

Where would we be without the FUNNY things in our lives? Laughter is the best medicine and we all enjoy those funny moments. What does the word funny inspire you to create? We need to see in your project how our word inspired you. If it isn’t obvious in your work, then please explain it in your post.
To add to the challenge, we want you to add STRIPES to your project. We don’t mind if they’re bold or soft, wide or narrow, so long as they’re stripey!

Please check out ALL our challenge rules in the RULES tab above.

Now let's see what our fabulous DT has come up with,
inspired by the FUNNY & STRIPES Main Challenge!

Jolande: This month I made a painting. The two FUNNY people who stand there like sticks with all the STRIPES of paint running through them, is the way we walk at this time... with distance between us!

Cecilia: The FUNNIEST moments are always with family, and it is much better if we're on the beach. Right now we cannot enjoy it because of the isolation, but we remember the joy through our pictures. My daughter on the beach with the lovely girl that reminds me when of when she was a kid; and gorgeous STRIPED paper surrounding the picture, what can be more fun?

Sarah: This month, the word FUNNY inspired me to use this photo series of my son. At Christmas we are in the habit of taking serious photos, but we also like to take less serious ones where we have fun making faces. This was a very funny moment. For the creative challenge STRIPES, I used the stripes from this fabulous collection of Maja design that I won at the More Than Words challenge last summer.

DANA TATAR

Dana: My daughter is a FUNNY girl! She is bananas for bananas. She has several banana print outfits. She also has a banana print rug in her room. When I need to talk to her, I can call her on her banana phone, which is great for a laugh! I incorporated STRIPES into my design on the base patterned paper and on a speech bubble chipboard embellishment.

HEIKES AUGENBLICK
Heike: For this challenge, using the word FUNNY, I have decided to create an art journal page. In my childhood there was only one phone at home. This telephone had a fixed place in the entrance hall. You couldn't really walk around with the phone because it only had a connecting cord of about 2m. I was raised with three brothers who made it their mission to always annoy me when I was on the phone. Today I find this story funny, but at that time it was almost a doomsday. For the creative challenge to use STRIPES, I added long and short acrylic color stripes.

Anastasia: My FUNNY bunnies enjoy long spring walks, and I enjoy the gorgeous flowering trees such as this magnolia. I used STRIPED paper on the background from different collections, different years, and manufacturers from my stock.
I wish everyone inspiration and a miracle every day!

Heather: In an effort to keep fit (and sane!) during isolation, we've been walking most days in the bush. We found some burnt trees and, not to let an opportunity for some fun go by, my family were soon wearing camouflage stripes! Too FUNNY!
I added STRIPES in the form of paper and a barcode to my work.

YULIA POPKOVA
Yulia Юлия Попкова (Yulia Popkova): For the May Challenge, I made a colorful summer layout with a photograph of my pet. My husband gave me a baby chinchilla for the celebration of 1.5 years of our acquaintance. He is now 4 months old and very FUNNY.  I created sun ray STRIPES that I made using a stencil. I used paper from Canvas Corp and 2Crafty Chipboard.

Our design team has shared their FUNNY inspiration
with you using STRIPES.

We hope that they will have inspired you to play along.
