APRIL 2020 Main Challenge - EVERYDAY & BUGS AND BIRDS

Welcome back dear followers!

"Sometimes life tells you to tilt your head, sideways squint, peer through a new perspective." - Angie Weiland-Crosby

We hope our challenge this month helps you do that!

Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.

Word Inspiration - EVERYDAY
Creative Challenge - BUGS AND BIRDS

Nature is very soothing and healing, and this month
we are encouraging you to immerse yourself in it!

HELPFUL TIPS FOR THE CHALLENGE

We do many things in our EVERYDAY lives that we barely think about. It’s time to get those memories recorded in your art! What is something you do in your everyday life that you would love to look back on and remember later? Or is there something special you do every day that you’ve never thought to create about. Here is your chance! We need to see in your project how our word inspired you. If it isn’t obvious in your work, then please explain it in your post.
The creative challenge is easy – just add some BUGS and/or BIRDS to your project. You can add just one or as many as you like.

Please check out ALL our challenge rules in the RULES tab above.

Now let's see what our fabulous DT has come up with,
inspired by the EVERYDAY & BUGS AND BIRDS Main Challenge!

DAISIE: I’m lucky to be the mother of three wonderful sons. Everyday I share incredible moments with them which makes my life fantastic. As my title in French indicates, it is an EVERYDAY happiness! For the creative twist I used BIRDS and dragonfly (BUGS) diecuts from 13@rts.

KATRIN: For this composition I wanted to use recycled materials. I believe that art can be of great help and comfort for everyone. Creativity can be a valid help for all of us. For this reason, I was inspired by the beauty of nature and the life that she gives us EVERYDAY. BIRDS AND BUTTERFLIES bring my composition to life!

ANNA: I decided to make an Art Journal spread for our April challenge. It's my favourite way of creating when I want to incorporate some deeper meaning or some motivational quotes. I wanted to remind myself to go through life confidently EVERYDAY, and to be wise and free as the BIRDS AND BUGS :)

PRIYA: Every morning I sit for sometime in my balcony with my hot tea, and that's the most peaceful time. I see empty roads and birds chirping around me.  I used that as my inspiration for this project. For the Word Inspiration I used this quote "EVERYDAY is a new beginning" in my project. and for the creative inspiration I used BIRDS. It's spring time so it's a colourful project.

HEMA:  For this months challenge I have used a ladybug as the focal pic. These ladybugs are true friends if you are a gardener... and I totally love these tiny little cuties. They are so colourful and EVERYDAY they eat away all the small ants which spoil the plants. That is why these little ones are a true friend for any gardener. They work well together and inspired me for this month's challenge -   it is dedicated to this tiny friend the LadyBUG.

ELLEHere is my project for April. It's a little house made from a cat food box. I made it into a bee house and added lots of little bees and some ladybirds for good measure. I was thinking about the EVERYDAY activities of these little creatures and how important they are to all of us, but so few people pay them any attention. Luckily for us, they go about their routine every day, despite anything that we might do. :) I added BUGS - bees and ladybirds to my project.

ROSALIE: My favorite BUG is the butterfly. I love its beautiful, elegant, and gorgeous colours. It brings joy to those EVERYDAY moments when you are in the garden and you see one.

DI: have made an "off the page" piece this time. This challenge inspired me with the feel of the outdoors, nature, and a feeling of peace and serenity. I think we could all do with a dose of that in our lives at the moment. My photos are just simple little ones that are exactly what my title says... an "EVERYDAY moment".  I tucked a little BIRD ephemera card in behind the flowers.

LINDA PEKRUL
LINDA: "Adopt the pace of nature, her secret is patience" - Emerson
EVERYDAY I take time to work with my houseplants, watch the BIRDS out in the yard and the deer as they walk by, and it brings me peace.

Our design team has shared their EVERYDAY inspiration
with you using BUGS AND BIRDS.

We hope that they will have inspired you to play along.

Special Guest Spotlight on Asia Szczurowska

We are introducing someone to you today, who's beautiful work is sure to put a smile on your face and chase the troubles of the world away.
Asia Szczurowska is here to delight with her beautiful art journal pages.

ASIA: My name is Asia and I live with my family in Wroclaw, in Poland. I have been playing with handicrafts for several years. Initially, I mostly did cards for my family and friends, but about 3 years ago, I decided to do more projects and I started to use mixed media on them. Now, I can't imagine my project without gesso, modeling paste, stamping in the background, and playing with colors of course. Mixed media gives me a lot of joy and lets me feel like a "semi-artist" or "almost an artist". ;)

You can visit Asia at the following links:

Here is a reminder of our March Main Challenge:

Word Inspiration: FOOD
Creative Challenge: SQUARE PHOTO

Asia's interpretation of our challenge:
ASIA: I love photos with family, friends, and from important celebrations. Since I don't take too many photos of FOOD, it was an easy task for me to choose this one (actually two) for the current challenge. I used photos from my wedding, where both my husband and I were already tired but very happy. The cake in the picture is highlighted with purple light (my favorite color) and we are on it, together with our dogs. SQUARE PHOTOS are easy to integrate into art journal pages. All you have to do is pull the composition sideways so that the whole page does not look empty.

When you think of FOOD, nothing is more elegant than a wedding cake; and Asia's art journal pages are truly elegant and beautiful.  She has shown us how to incorporate two SQUARE PHOTOS into an art journal and connect them together with layers of coordinating mixed media.

A big THANK YOU to Asia for joining us as our March Special Guest!

We hope that Asia's beautiful project inspires you to join us

March 2020 2nd Reveal of Main Challenge - FOOD & SQUARE PHOTO

Today brings a 2nd wave of inspiration from our Design Team.
Check out how they were inspired by our
March 2020 Main Challenge - FOOD & SQUARE PHOTO.

Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.

Word Inspiration - FOOD
Creative Challenge - SQUARE PHOTO

Instagram pics come to mind for this one! Do you have a yummy FOOD photo to share? Or maybe you have a family snap of a barbeque, a picnice, or a romantic dinner? We want to know about the special food you've eaten, or an event focussed around food. We need to see in your project how our word inspired you. If it isn't obvious in your work, then please explain it in your post. Add a SQUARE PHOTO to your project. We don't mind if it's an Instagram photo or if you've cropped a standard photo, so long as it's square! If you don't want to add a photo, we want to see a square element on your project.

Please check out ALL our challenge rules in the RULES tab above.

Now let's see what our fabulous DT has come up with,
inspired by the FOOD & SQUARE PHOTO Main Challenge!

Sabrina: Hi Sab here! This is a really great challenge this month... because ... I love food! I love cake! In this SQUARE PHOTO is a picture of my fav cake, cheesecake!!!! This is a photo I took during a beautiful weekend full of laughter and good FOOD! And what's your fav?

Daisy: Sushi is my favorite food. I'm totally crazy about it. I love sharing this meal with my children. When we eat sushi, we feel very festive, and we always have a pleasant time. I used this appetizing FOOD photo of sushi that I found on pinterest and printed it in a square format.

ELLE: "So Much Cake, So Little Time" is my take on the FOOD March Challenge.  This is a constant problem isn't it? I created this Art Journal page using paper from Maja Design - Little Street Cafe, and the cardboard letters and frames, as well as cake photos are all recycled from food packaging. I also printed a SQUARE PHOTO of Marie Antoinette, who famously liked a bit of cake!

HEMA: My take on this month's FOOD challenge is "People who love to eat are always the best people". I'm a foodie and love lucious, fruity stuff the best... but I also love cakes and ice cream... yummmmm... totally! I have used SQUARE PHOTOS for the challenge, and we all live for one SQUARE meal... RIGHT guys....!! Hope you enjoy this yummy, luscious take on the challenge.

Lanusia: There are so many delicious dishes in the world, that no life will be long enough to try them all! Of course, we are used to eating FOOD which is specific to our own country. Every summer our forests are rich in blueberries. We pick them and then freeze them or make yummy jam. You can see a fantastic dessert in the SQUARE PHOTO.  Would you try it?

Anna: Our march challenge was a perfect excuse for me to use one of my Instagram SQUARE PHOTOS of FOOD, which I tend to take quite often. I have a rule not to eat sweets at home, but I love beautiful desserts in restaurants and cafeterias. I made an art journal spread featuring one of these sweet adventures - of course with my loved one, who fortunately shares my love for great desserts.

Rosalie: My favourite type of FOOD is an indulgent, elegant ‘High Tea’. Gorgeous desserts, scones, fresh sandwiches, champagne and exotic tea. It always feels like a time of celebration. The elegant assortment of food is featured in a SQUARE PHOTO.

KATRIN MERAGLIA
Katrin: I love desserts, cakes, biscuits, ice cream... I love good FOOD! In order to create this layout a little differently than I usually do, I made everything with my cricut maker.  For a final touch, I used some metallic brush strokes and finished by adding a SQUARE PHOTO of a delicious tart.

Do all these layouts of delicious food have you drooling???

We hope they have inspired you to play along with our

Main Challenge this month!
