Special Guest Spotlight on
TINA OLLETT

It's time to showcase another fabulous designer here
at More Than Words with a brand new Special Guest Spotlight!

Tina Ollett has no doubt already wowed you with her gorgeous elegant style!
She is a scrapbooking pro at romantic shabby chic designs and
she has the midas touch when creating fabulous flower clusters
and beautiful soft and whimsical compositions.
We thought that she would be a perfect match with our March challenge!

Learn a bit more about Tina as she introduces herself:

Hello!  My  name is Tina Ollett, but my friends and family call me Teen!
I live in beautiful sunny Queensland, Australia with my husband,
our 3 children as well as 2 furry and 6 feathered friends. My family
is my ultimate inspiration for everything creative that I do.

I am for the most part a scrapbooker, but on occasion
I have been known to do smaller off the page projects.
I love to use patterned papers, lots of layers, dimension, chipboards
and of course flowers... lots of flowers with small amounts of media
in a vintage/shabby chic style. My aim when scrapping is to keep
the focus on the photos and to celebrate the memories that they represent.

I am currently part of some wonderful design teams, and in my other
spare time, I share my love of scrapbooking through teaching
at workshops and classes around my hometown.

Here is a reminder of our March BEAUTIFUL & BUTTERFLY challenge
which inspired Tina to create the exquisite layout that follows:

Here is how Tina describes in her own words how she was inspired by our word
and how she incorporated our creative challenge to her project:

The word BEAUTIFUL in my mind is a word that gives me great pleasure
to see or think about.  When I am scrapbooking, I love to create something
to represent memories of photos in a beautiful way. And for the most part
I find that using gorgeous blooms, clusters of embellishments and
stunning patterned papers allows for this to happen! But, I also find that
to complete this, the photo must be special to me, able to evoke a wonderful
memory that I wish to recreate in a layout.

For this layout, I have used the word BEAUTIFUL in a quote which
is an old favorite. It adds to the memory of the photo of my daughter
who was catching butterflies in our backyards one day many years ago.

The creative challenge of adding a BUTTERFLY (or more!) was easy for me
as butterflies are pretty my go to embellishment for many of
my shabby chic layouts. I find that butterflies help with the flow
and guide the eye to the focal point of the page.

There are no words to express how much we love Tina's layout!
The gorgeous papers, fussy cut and added in between layers of chipboard and lace,
as well as numerous delicate butterflies fluttering about the page,
are absolutely the perfect mix to showcase the beautiful photo of her daughter.
Tina has definitely created a masterpiece!

Here are some close-ups:

A big THANK YOU to Tina for joining us as our March Special Guest!

With Tina's stunning page in mind, we hope that you will be inspired
to play along in this month's Main Challenge, if not already done!

You have until March 31st to link up!

March 2017 Main Challenge
BEAUTIFUL & BUTTERFLY

Happy March 1st, everyone!

A new month means a new Main Challenge, and we really hope that
you will enjoy this one and participate in huge numbers!

Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.
The challenge is open to layouts, canvases and art journal pages only.
Make sure to carefully read our instructions below!

Word Inspiration - BEAUTIFUL
Creative Challenge - BUTTERFLY

What does the word BEAUTIFUL inspire you to create?  You can choose to use the word somewhere on your project or simply be inspired by it.  Please explain in your blog post how the word inspired you, if not already obvious.

For many, butterflies are the emblem of beauty and freedom. There are over 20,000 species in the world and each one is as pretty as the next. For this month's challenge, we ask that you add a BUTTERFLY,
or as many as you wish, on your project.

VERY IMPORTANT!
You have to incorporate both requirements of the challenge,
the word inspiration AND the creative challenge,
on your project to be eligible to win.
Just look at our designers' creations and descriptions as example.
Also, remember that you must include our board image
and a link to the More Than Words blog in your entry post.

Please check out our challenge rules in the RULES tab above.

Heather: "I found this gorgeous photo of my daughter and her bestie, and they definitely are two of the most BEAUTIFUL young women I know. I went crazy with the BUTTERFLY theme - there are die-cut butterflies everywhere!
The stunning Dusty Attic flourish adds that something special to the page."

Jennifer: "The word BEAUTIFUL made me think of this picture of my little boy, also my youngest child.  He and I have such a merging relationship. He was born with health problems, and I find beautiful that despite all this, he is so very strong. I used BUTTERFLIES in my cluster of embellishments - I love butterflies!"

Nicole: "This month, I decided to do a mixed media canvas. The word BEAUTIFUL made me think of my favorite movie, the Italian drama 'Life Is Beautiful', and so I have used the title of the movie as the title of my project. I added one single chipboard BUTTERFLY amid a cluster of flowers, embellishments and microbeads."

Pamela: "Love to me is the most BEAUTIFUL thing. There are so many kinds of love, and people show it in so many different ways. That's why I chose the title 'Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful'. For the creative challenge, I stamped several BUTTERFLIES on my background and added some fussy-cut ones here and there on my page."

Caroline: "BUTTERFLIES are certainly one of my favorite embellishments to add to a layout! I don't mind adding flowers and butterflies, even on a boy's page. I used the word inspiration BEAUTIFUL in my title as a pun, 'be-you-tiful, to describe my sweet little boy who also has a big temper!"

Di: "The softness and prettiness of the board image, as well as the word BEAUTIFUL, inspired me to create a baby layout. I have added my BUTTERFLY tucked in underneath the top edge of the photo. I have used these little words 'beautiful moments' because that truly says it all."

Kareen: "BEAUTIFUL - simply because my little girl is beautiful! She is the sweetest and most amazing daughter! I have also used a flair with the word on it. For the creative challenge, I added some BUTTERFLIES to embellish my layout,
perfect for a feminine page."

Elena T: "My children are the most BEAUTIFUL part of my life, and I always feel greatly inspired to create projects about them. The pictures are from our vacation by the sea. The BUTTERFLIES are tender creatures - I added them to show my tender feelings of love for my kids."

Lilibleu: "I found on Pinterest this BEAUTIFUL photo which I find illustrates perfectly this month's word. I even chose to use the word as my title as it fits so well with the photo. In addition to the BUTTERFLY in the picture, I added several
paper butterflies as embellishments."

Kavitha: "A baby's smile is the most BEAUTIFUL thing, so I decided to make a soft and pretty baby page. I have added a printed BUTTERFLY among my floral arrangement."

Elena M: "I think all babies are BEAUTIFUL! So I chose to document a photo of me as a child on this layout. Here, I am 2 or 3 years old and I'm walking in our family garden at the time. Unfortunately, this garden is now owned by another family, as my father had to sell it because he couldn't take care of it anymore. I still have a lot of fond memories of it. I added lots of BUTTERFLIES on the page as I just love them! They add lots of lightness and freshness to the layout."

Aga: "I think that the vintage scrapbooking style is very BEAUTIFUL - I love all the layers and metal decorations. When I create in this style, I feel like a BUTTERFLY which flies higher and higher on the wings of imagination and nothing can stop me! I have added a metal butterfly trinket on top of my classic photo."

Valerie: "I used the word BEAUTIFUL as the title because my little boy is to me the most beautiful boy in the world! I printed BUTTERFLIES that I glued on my background before adding my ink spray and created
a lovely mixed media base for my layout."

Sanderijn: "I made a mixed media canvas this month, and this challenge was so not difficult for me as I love butterflies! I use them on so many projects, and I usually love them stamped or embossed, and that is what I did here too. The word BEAUTIFUL is one of my favs too! Lucky me, I had one in chipboard in my stash. I love any word with a hashtag with it. I therefore created a soft and delicate canvas, and the BUTTERFLIES went along with it perfectly."

Anguree: "This layout was inspired by my love for flowers and the beauty of nature. In fact, this photo was inspired by sunflowers that I saw growing alongside on the road during my last visit to South Africa. I happened to have booked a fun photoshoot with two of my best friends on the following Monday, so I went and bought two bunches of sunflowers and a big bright bouquet of of roses, lilies and and daisies to use in the photoshoot.  I had no idea how I would use them all, but the thought of it made me happy! So, to me, this is a reminder of how BEAUTIFUL life really is because it's so easy to forget in the daily rush.  And where there are flowers,
there are of course BUTTERFLIES!"

We are sure that you will agree that our designers have created
some outstanding work here, each beautiful and unique... as a butterfly! :)
