Q & A with Guylaine

How long have you been art journalling?

I started art journalling in late 2021.

What is your favourite colour palette to use?

I like to use black, blue and pink on my projects. 

Are you inspired by a particular artist or artists, if so who?

I love to see what other artists are doing, I'm a big fan of Claire @artjournallove, Nuneka and Annie Samson

What is your favourite supply or product?

I am a versatile creator who touches many mediums on art journals, but my favorites products are paint and stencils.  

Why do you enter art challenges?

I often look at challenges to be inspired and of course More Than Words is my fav!!

And finally, In my art journal, I have always wanted to try...?

Recently I bought soft pastels and I haven't yet tried them but it is on my to do list!!!

Guylaine's Interpretation of our March Challenge

Guylaine says:  As soon as I read the theme was Home it reminded me about those colored houses from Dylusions. Home reminds me of town too, which is why I pasted bits of road maps. I like to add texture with tulle and yarn. Home is where you should always feel good. Hearts were so appropriate

Let's take a look at this month's art journal challenge! We have simplified the challenges this year and the challenge no longer has two parts. Instead we have one main theme to inspire you and this month it's all about HOME.

As mentioned at the top of the post, we are excited to share the latest issue of our new digital magazine - Artful Pages - which is a new way of looking at our challenges and inspiration, as well as being able to add more value for our readers which we are not able to do in our current formats.  So here's a look at our latest issue which is available to flick through online just like a real magazine.  The magazine contains more about our challenge this month, our Design Team inspiration,Guest Designer interviews, and more!  Check it out and see for yourself - we would love your feedback!

As soon as I thought about this theme, this idea popped into my head, to create a page about "home is where the cats are" and I set about planning my scene.  I used soft pastels, acrylic and gouache to create my page of perhaps my idea of the "perfect" home?  Or perhaps it needs a few more cats!

When I think of home, my heart goes directly to the Lighthouse. 140 yrs of family service to NSW Lighthouses and its people. Locally our Lighthouse illuminates the path home.

Hello! Here is my page about home. I used the most beautiful quote - "Home is where the heart is". It's so true!  I played with a lot of magical pigments and stamps to create the background. I have a short video tutorial for you as well on my social media channels.

Ever since my college days, I have loved John Denver's song about HOME. (And that was a long time ago! LOL!) I featured those lyrics on my art journal page, along with the ArtStacks' (tissue paper) image of the tree with the swing, from the "Trees and Leaves" pack. This definitely reminds me of my childhood home.
