December 2019 Main Challenge - REJOICE & ANYTHING GOES

"When you appreciate the blessings in life, your soul rejoices."
Lailah Gifty Akita

This month, share with us how the word REJOICE inspires you!

Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.

Word Inspiration - REJOICE
Creative Challenge - ANYTHING GOES

What does the word REJOICE inspire you to create?
You can choose to use the actual word somewhere on your project
or simply be inspired by it. Please explain in your blog post
how it inspired you if it isn't obvious in your work.

REJOICE!  It's December, and ANYTHING GOES at More Than Words!

Yes - create anything you like so long as you are inspired by the word 'Rejoice', and you create a layout, canvas, art journal page or planner page.  Set your imagination free!

Please check out all our challenge rules in the RULES tab above.

Now let's see what our fabulous DT has come up with,
inspired by the REJOICE & ANYTHING GOES Main Challenge!

Image may contain: outdoor
FRANCE:  REJOICE! Traveling the world is what brings me the most joy. I love seeing the architecture, exploring the culture, and discovering new food. For ANYTHING GOES I have chosen to stencil my background with modelling paste, using mandala and honeycomb stencils.

Image may contain: outdoor
ROSALIE:  REJOICE ‘in the small things in life’!   A beautiful picture of my son and granddaughter Amelia, building sand castles, brings me joy.
For the ANYTHING GOES part of the challenge, I chose to use a mixed
media beach theme.

DI:  Although there are many ways to interpret the word REJOICE,
I was inspired to create a Christmas themed layout.
For me, Christmas is a time for family and celebrating health and happiness.
This is a photo of two of my grand babies taken last Christmas.
I have been eagerly awaiting an opportunity to scrap it,
and I think this is the perfect opportunity to do so!
For the ANYTHING GOES part of the challenge, I chose to use traditional Christmas colours and embellishments & I even added a couple of little pinecones to keep with the whole festive vibe.

Image may contain: 1 person
DAISY:  For this challenge, I was inspired by a photo of my nephew Nolan.
I REJOICE greatly in being an aunt again!
For the ANYTHING GOES creative part of the challenge,
I stayed in my comfort zone and made my background
using a 13 arts stencil and 3D matte gel,
Lindy’s sprays, and my favorite stamps... Design by Valerie.

Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling
HEATHER:  Thinking about what makes me REJOICE, I realised how much I have enjoyed working with Nicole Doiron at More Than Words for the last four years.
She is taking a break next year and I will miss her enormously.
For ANYTHING GOES I based my page around a scrap piece of paper that
I used to clean my gelli plate with. I loved it so much
that I pulled it out of the rubbish bin and used it!

Image may contain: 1 person, flower
DARIA:  Free creativity inspires me, and makes me REJOICE!
For the ANYTHING GOES creative part of the challenge,
I let inspiration flow through me and onto my page to share with you!

No photo description available.
ANAT:  To REJOICE is to Celebrate!
I’ve chosen to celebrate life with this fabulous picture I found.
The butterfly reflects tenderness and strength at the same time.
That will be my inspiration for 2020!
This month, the creativity challenge is ANYTHING GOES.
I decided to use a wooden block, instead of a canvas, to create my project on.
I am looking forward to seeing all of your creations xoxo

No photo description available.
ALICJA:  For the word REJOICE, I choose a photo of magical, holiday time
that always brings much happiness to me.
For the ANYTHING GOES challenge,
I created a festive layout with many details and shiny embellishments.

Image may contain: plant and outdoor
CAROLINE:  Christmas is a season to REJOICE to me,
and it begins with decorating my home.
We take a day in early December
and decorate our home together with our children.
I love how placing our decor starts the
Christmas spirit!
For the ANYTHING GOES creative portion of the challenge,
I chose to do stenciling and watercolouring in the background,
and added thread for texture.

Image may contain: 3 people, people smiling, flower
EDITH:  Spending time with the girls in my life,
is the real reason to REJOICE for me.
For ANYTHING GOES I created a background using watercolor,
a little texture, and lots of my favorite color... pink!

No photo description available.
NUNEKA:  Winter is my favourite season of the year.
I love the cold air and the snow falling on my hair.
It makes me feel as joyful as this little fox
who is clearly full of REJOICE at the moment!
For the ANYTHING GOES part of the challenge
I decided to use natural elements on my project.

Image may contain: 1 person
PRIYA:  This has been an amazing year for me
and it has given me great REJOICE!
I am so thankful for everthing that has happened to me
and my layout was inspired by this.
I look forward to the future with a great deal of positivity!
For the ANYTHING GOES part of the challenge,
I chose to use combinations of the rose and mocha colours in the texture,
Lindy's sprays, flowers, and embellishments.

No photo description available.

NICOLE:  The word REJOICE (and it being December),
made me think of Christmas.
For me, Christmas is definitely 'the most wonderful time of the year'!
It is a time for families to take joy in spending quality time together...
a time for peace, love, and harmony.
For the ANYTHING GOES creative part of the challenge, I decided to create a canvas using a snowflake shaped wooden plaque.
The plaque is 10x10 inches in diameter.
I added lots of sparkly snowflakes and festive poinsettias as embellishments.

Introducing The More Than Words 2020 Design and Administration Teams!

A new year is fast approaching and we have some very exciting changes
happening at More Than Words in 2020. You'll have to wait until January 1st to find
out how we're changing but, for now, we'd like to announce that we've selected not only a new Design team but a new Admin Team as well!

Our teams are filled with fabulously talented ladies who
we hope will inspire you in 2020. Some current members are staying on with
us for another year, and some are brand new.
We are very excited to introduce you to them all!

First of all though, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to all of you who took the
time to apply to our Design Team Call.
We were truly impressed with all the talented applications we received.
It certainly made our job very difficult!
Although we weren't able to pick everyone, we do hope that those of you who missed out will apply again when the next Design Team Call is made.
Thank you SO MUCH for your support of our challenge blog!

Without further ado, we would like to introduce you to our 2020 teams:

New and Returning Admin Team Members
DANA TATAR - United States
ELLE WILSON - United Kingdom

New and Returning Design Team Members
DI GARLING - Australia
HEMA - India
LANUSIA - Ukraine

There have been some significant changes behind the scenes
of the More Than Words teams. DI GARLING has moved from the Administration Team to the Design Team, and PRIYA MISHRA has moved from the Design Team to the Administration Team. You will continue to see inspirational projects from them both!

Change brings growth, and we are very excited to see
the creativity our new teams bring in 2020!

Unfortunately, along with happy hellos, also come sad farewells.

Firstly, it is with great sadness that we say farewell
to two members of our Administration Team:

NICOLE DOIRON is one of our founding members and has been a crucial cog
in the workings of More Than Words. She has worked tirelessly to bring our
challenges to you for four years now. Her ideas and knowledge were always
greatly appreciated and respected.

Also taking a break is CAROLINE ELLIAM.
Caroline joined the Administration Team nearly three years ago and has been
a reliable and highly-valued member of our team ever since. Her knowledge of all things to do with the online world has been a great help to all of us.

We will miss you both enormously!

The following 2019 Design Team members will be heading in new
directions at the end of December. We send our best wishes along with them!

A huge THANK YOU to all these departing designers!
You are the best and will always be considered part of the MTW family.

There's only a few more days before we release
our next Main Challenge on December 1st.

Be sure to come back then and check it out!!

Special Guest Spotlight on

We are so pleased to introduce to you another fabulous guest
here at More Than Words. We have been admiring her beautiful work for a while and we are happy that she has agreed to join us!

Let's learn a little more about Karine Smouts through her own words:

I am Karine, aka Smokascrap, and I live in Southern France, in the nice town of Martigues, which is also called 'the little Venice of Provence.' I have been scrapbooking for 10 years and particularly like inks and mediums. I don't have a scrap style (well, not that I know of). I really like to get inspired by a sketch; it's often the starting point of my work. Then comes a photo that I find inspiring and voila the rest follows on its own. I mainly do layouts, canvases and cards. I am so happy to be the guest designer this month at More Than Words and I want to thank all the MTW team for this wonderful opportunity!

You can visit Karine at the following links:

Here is a reminder of our November Main Challenge
followed by Karine's gorgeous creative interpretation.

Read below as Karine describes in her own words how she was inspired
by our word and how she chose to incorporate our creative challenge:

For me the word SUCCESS represents the work and the daily efforts to make a dream come true. I illustrated this challenge by focusing on the 'principal dancer' of the Ballet of the Opera National de Paris, Hugo Marchand. 'Principal dancer' is considered to be the supreme title in the hierarchy of dance, and to achieve such a rank takes a lot of dedication and hard work. For Hugo to hold this title is a freedom and a responsibility at the same time.

I represented the keys to success with words like 'mental', 'competition', 'ambition', 'generosity', etc. And of course, I also added a metal KEY embellishment to incorporate the creative challenge.

Let's take a look at some details:

What a splendid and stunning project!
We couldn't have picked a better subject matter to define the word SUCCESS.
And Karine sure demonstrated that she holds the KEY to creating a gorgeous layout!

A big THANK YOU to Karine for joining us as our November Special Guest!

We hope that you will take inspiration from Karine's creation
and that you will play along with our November Main Challenge.

You have until November 30 to link up!

Special SPONSOR GDT Event - Day 2

We are back today with more tribute to our fabulous 2019 sponsors!

Each and every one of our sponsors have played a pivotal role in
the More Than Words blog world and it is because of them
that we are able to inspire you to participate to our monthly challenges.

As stated yesterday, they are one of the main KEYS to our SUCCESS!

So, now let us continue to showcase each sponsor along
with a gorgeous creation from a member of their DT using their products.

Here's a quick reminder of the November challenge
followed by our sponsors' interpretation of it to inspire you!

2CRAFTY is an Australian wholesale manufacture of laser cut chipboard, with thousands of designs, diverse in nature and always up to date with market trends. We pride ourselves on our reliable and quick turnaround of jobs, both large and small, and high quality products as well as unbeatable customer service.

Elena: I created this layout with the word SUCCESS in mind. A couple of years ago, I quite successfully conducted live workshops in the Studio of the Creative People store in my city. We worked both in small companies and in large groups. I remember one day when the girls came to me to make layouts. It was incredibly nice to be recognized as a master who can teach others. It felt like a real success to me. Scrapbooking was the KEY to the door behind which opened a delightful world of creativity! So I added a metal key next to our picture.

2Crafty products used:
Angie's Vines - Clock Face Frames - Line Words - Happiness Borders

49 AND MARKET is a premium scrapbooking wholesaler of paper and products.  Their collections range from shabby chic to boho fabulous or romantically vintage, and will certainly appeal to those seeking quality, without exception.

Lisa: The word SUCCESS inspired me to do this layout of my granddaughter. In the photo used, she was only 4 months old. I saw a big bright future for her. She has the world at her tiny feet. And although she is young, we will all try to lay a path for her upon which she will be able to thrive. She doesn't know it yet, but she will be a success! Incorporating a beautiful metal KEY ties into the quote that includes 'the key to success'.

49 and Market products used:
'Bold and Beautiful' Patterned Papers & Laser Cut Sheet - Flowers 'Enchanted Petals - Ballet Slippers', 'Garden Petals - Ballet Slippers', 'Stargazers - Petal Pink', 'Pixie Petals - Ballet Slippers'

MAJA DESIGN is a Swedish manufacture of craft paper that is dedicated to create unique and very high quality papers for scrapbooking and crafts. Every collection is designed by the company's founder, Marie Janson, and are created with a unique story in mind.

Lenet: The word SUCCESS inspired me to use a picture of an artist carrying her brushes. The word 'create' in the lightbulb, the KEY and then the word 'success' are displayed together to make up the quote in the challenge board 'Creativity is the key to success'. I added some of my own brushes and pencil to embellish the layout as these are tools which I always use when crafting, so in a way they help me accomplish my work successfully.

Maja Design products used are:
'Vintage Baby' and 'Vintage Summer Basics' Patterned Papers

The creative concept of the MINTAY brand and its products are the projects of Karola Witczak - a well known designer, craft teacher and craft industry consultant, both in Poland and all over the world. Their collections are not only about high quality paper, print or original design, but most importantly, the products are created by enthusiasts for passionate crafters.

Anna: For me, being successful in life means having a loving home and a happy family. I devoted my life to raising my kids and they are my biggest SUCCESS. That's why I decided to use their picture on the heart shaped canvas to create my project. I also incorporated two metal KEYS and the word 'key' on my project to represent the creative challenge.

Mintay products used are:
'Kiddie' and 'Bloomville' Patterned Paper Collections

CREATIVE EMBELLISHMENTS is a small family owned American manufacturer of laser cut products such as chipboard, wood veneer, stencils, rubber stamps and acrylic. They also design and manufacture their own flair buttons.

Tracy: I was inspired by the word SUCCESS to create this graduation layout of our daughter. There is nothing like celebrating success in knowledge and the achievements of your child. I truly believe that knowledge is the KEY to success and I have added a chipboard key to represent that.

Creative Embellishments products used:
Keys - Square Inside Square 6x6 Panel - Adventure Word Set

EXPRESSIONSCRAFT is a new brand that manufactures stencils, chipboards, metallic paints, chalk paints and basic mixed media supplies. They have their own manufacturing unit and make all products in India.

Schwetha: Art is a medium that serves as a mirror to my innermost feelings. It is highly personal and yet it can be highly relatable to others as well. This quality in an artwork can be achieved only through dedication, meticulous hard work and patience. Every time someone tells me that they are able to connect with my work at an emotional level and appreciates me, I feel that I have attained SUCCESS. Therefore, I deem art to be the key to success. And speaking of KEYS, I have added quite a few to my project, all unique and intricate.

Expressionscraft products used are:
Crackle Paste - Heavy Gesso Black - Texture Black Granite Paste
Chroma Burst 'Tea Cup Teal' and 'Old Metal Rust'
Chalk Paints 'Tempo Teal', 'Pale Sunset Gold' and 'Military Brown'

THE VINTAGE CHICKS CLUB is an Australian family owned paper craft business since 1985. It has been the staple in the lives of paper crafters, scrapbooking, cardmaking, mixed media, off the page, painting, pottery, floristry and more.

The Vintage Chicks Club DT was not able to participate by providing us with a project, but let's still take a look at some of the assorted products from various brands that they offer in their online shop.

Well, this concludes our Special SPONSOR GDT Event!

We would like to thank each one of our fabulous sponsors for agreeing to play along to our November challenge which we thought was a perfect fit to show our appreciation to the successful manufacturers and suppliers who contribute every single month to the MTW success.
