May 2017 Mini Challenge - SHE

It's time for another Mini Challenge here at More Than Words!

This month, we are continuing on with our celebration of mothers,
and thus all women, so we have chosen our mini word accordingly.

Here's how it works:

The Mini Challenge runs on the last week of each month and is for
cards, tags and ATCs only.  (ATCs, or Artist Trading Cards, are small works of art,
about 2.5 by 3.5 inches or 64 x 89 mm). This challenge requires you to use
a specific word on your project. We must see the actual word. You have only one week - until the last day of the month - to enter, so be quick!

Entry for the Mini Challenge is only
via our Facebook page under the relevant post.

The winner, as voted by our DT, will receive a $25 USD value prize
from THE DUSTY ATTIC, our fabulous Mini Challenge sponsor!

You can see all our rules under the RULES tab above.

Is this word inspiring you to make a mini creation? We sure hope so!

we hope that you will give our Mini Challenge a go!

You have until 11:59 pm EST on Wednesday, May 31st

Special Guest Spotlight on
TUSIA LECH

We  have a very special guest this month to introduce to you,
although she surely needs no introduction!

Tusia Lech plays a very special part in the More Than Words community
because as owner of 7 Dots Studio, she has been one of our very generous
sponsors from the very beginning and a tremendous support.
Through her amazing art and her keen eye for marketing fabulous products,
she is a true inspiration to so many in every sense of the word.

Let's learn a bit more about Tusia through her own words:

Scrapbooking fills my whole life!  It is all around me - in my private life and in my job career, as I am the owner of 7 Dots Studio and also an eager scrapbooker. I love the process of creation.  I have created things since early childhood; all kinds of handmade things always attracted me. I cannot imagine my life without making some art. Even if I leave for a weekend, I always take my small 'art-bag',
filled with art-journal supplies.

I love all kinds of media. If I would have to define my style, I would say that mixed media is the only constant thing. My favorite colours are fresh, bold greens, blues and pinks, but at the same time I just love delicate, pale hues of beige, rose and white. However, there is something that can always be found in my projects -
a positive, feminine style.

I am lucky enough to be a designer in several creative places.  I also love drinking coffee, reading books, walking through the forest, watching flowers on the meadow, basking in the Autumn sun and being deep in my inner world. I can say that I am a happy person and wouldn't change a single thing in my life.

You can visit Tusia at the following link:
BLOG  -  FACEBOOK  -  INSTAGRAM

Here is a reminder of our May Main Challenge MOTHER & FLOWERS
followed the stunning project that it inspired Tusia to create!

Read below how Tusia describes in her own words how she was inspired
by our word and  how she incorporated our creative challenge:

The word MOTHER immediately made me think of Mother Earth!
I love FLOWERS. In my garden there are many of them - among others, tulips. For me, they are the symbol of Spring and they come in so many different shapes and colours. I think the photo I used for this layout was taken last Spring. Tulips are in a vase on my table almost every day throughout March and April. Loving Mother Earth gives us flowers and so many other things that make our days sweeter and brighter. We should all be thankful and treat our home - the Earth -
with the utmost care and kindness.

For this particular layout, I have used the Writer's Block collection from 7 Dots Studio (it matched perfectly with the background of the board image) and a load of mixed media products, mostly from Finnabair: waxes, glass beads, mica powders,
micro beads, gel medium, some mechanicals, etc.

Now don't you agree that Tusia has interpreted our challenge perfectly?
We love her different take on the word - the 'Mother Earth' theme is so brilliant -
and we couldn't love any more her choice of photo (bright vivid tulips)
on the contrasting dark grey background full loaded with depth and texture.
Truly stunning work!

Here are some close-ups:

A big THANK YOU to Tusia for joining us as our May Special Guest!

We hope that you will take inspiration from Tusia's creation
and you will play along with our May Main Challenge if not already done.

You have until May 31st to link up!

May 2017 Main Challenge
MOTHER & FLOWERS

Hello everyone! We are ready to share a brand challenge
with you here at More Than Words!

During the month of May, in most parts of the world, we dedicate one
specific day to honor very special women in our lives... mothers!
So this month we are offering you a challenge honouring them too!

Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.
The challenge is open to layouts, canvases and art journal pages only.
Make sure you carefully read our instructions below.

Word Inspiration - MOTHER
Creative Challenge - FLOWERS

What does the word MOTHER inspire you to create?
You can choose to use the actual word somewhere on your project
or simply be inspired by it. Please explain in your blog post how the word
inspired you, if not already obvious. We love to read about your inspiration!

Most undoubtedly the #1 gift given to mothers on Mother's Day are FLOWERS.
So our creative challenge is very easy... just add at least one flower to your project.
Or you can add an entire bouquet... whatever your fancy!

VERY IMPORTANT!  In order to be eligible to win...
You have to incorporate both requirements of the challenge,
the word inspiration (MOTHER) and the creative challenge (FLOWERS),
Just look at our designers' projects and descriptions as examples.
You must also include our board image as well as a link to our blog in your entry post.
AND you may combine our challenge with no more than 2 other blog challenges.

Please check out all our challenge rules in the RULES tab above.

Caroline: "My MOTHER is my best friend.  She's always there, and I know she always will be. Our relationship is precious and I cherish every moment that I have her by my side. For the creative twist, I added a lot of different types of FLOWERS like paper, resin, stenciled and stamped. I used beautiful new flower stamps designed by my friend and MTW team member, Valerie."

Nicole: "It was obvious seeing this month's word inspiration that I had to pay homage to my MOTHER. She has always been the most important woman in my life.  Generous, sociable, strong, funny... those are just some of her qualities that I strive towards every day. The picture was taken back in October when my brother and I threw a big party to celebrate her 65th birthday. The creative challenge wasn't that much of a challenge as I use FLOWERS on pretty much all my creations. For this page, I especially chose these gorgeous blooms from the Prima Rossibelle collection which I had in my stash for a while, saving them for a very special layout."

Di: "I was inspired by our challenge this month to scrap a layout using this photo of my MOTHER and myself as a baby. It was a wonderful walk down memory lane. The creative challenge was easy as I normally love to use FLOWERS on my projects."

Aga: "Today, I would like to present you this layout of my younger son. Inspired by this month's challenge, I wanted to show you how happy I am to be his MOTHER. I hope by looking at the whole page and the numerous FLOWERS, which I usually avoid since I don't feel comfortable with the flowery style, you will feel my blossoming happiness too. This page was created to show my deep love for my children."

Elena M: "I made a project with a photo of my grandmother and her son, my dad. She was a beautiful, caring and loving MOTHER and grandmother.  I added a lot of FLOWERS on my layout because of the creative challenge of course, but also because my grandmother loved and grew them in her garden."

Ekaterina: "This month, the very special word 'Mama' (MOTHER) is the inspiration, so I made this canvas with a photo of my mother-in-law. I love her very much; she is like a second mother to me! The FLOWERS used in my work are stamped images
painted with Magicals from Lindy's."

Jennifer: "This month, I chose to use this picture of my youngest baby boy. He is a miracle baby as I waited 4 years for him to be conceived. He was born with a lot of health problems, and I am so proud of the path traveled with my baby. In a way, with my page, I decided to celebrate the dedicated MOTHERS of sick children.
I incorporated a lot of FLOWERS as usual, as they are easily
my favorite scrappy embellishments."

Lilibleu: "For this month's challenge, I wanted to use a vintage photo to illustrate the MOTHER theme. The meaning of this special word has stayed the same through the test of time. I also placed the word directly on my page. FLOWERS being my favorite embellishments, I always like to put a lot on every project,
so this one was no exception."

Elena T: "I chose for our May challenge an old photo of me with my MOTHER. This photo inspired me to create a blooming page with a light vintage look. FLOWERS! Yes! I love flowers very much and I often use them on my projects. They are my favorites! In this project, I incorporated different types: chipboard, handmade, fabric, printed. Let us all make our memories bloom!"

Valerie: "The meeting with this little being who has been living inside your belly for 9 months is a moment of pure happiness for a MOTHER. This is a memory that I will cherish forever. I followed the creative challenge by adding
many FLOWERS on my page."

Sanderijn: "I was inspired by this month's word to use this brand new gorgeous picture of my daughter because I cannot begin to describe how proud I am of her and how she manages to make my MOTHER's heart jump up and down from joy constantly. For the creative challenge, I don't need much explanation, right?
'Let's make your project bloom'... well, that's exactly what I did! I took this picture last week, in Springtime, so that's why I decided to use a Spring theme in combination with the FLOWERS.
My daughter makes my life bloom in every way!"

Kavitha: "A MOTHER's love is timeless and stays the same forever, so I added a clock and the title 'Forever' on my layout. For the creative challenge, I decorated my page with several FLOWERS, of all kinds and sizes."

Kareen: "The day I became a MOTHER was 6 years ago. Time goes by so fast! It was the most beautiful day, and I still remember it as if it was yesterday. I added a lot of FLOWERS on my layout, as a celebration of that day!"

Anguree: "This layout is all for you, Mum! You are beautiful, amazing, one of a kind and the best MOTHER anyone could ever ask for.  But God gave you to me! You love purple and so I faced my greatest scrap nemesis... the colour purple!  I created a layout with purple hibiscus FLOWERS. They are not your beloved Christmas roses or agapanthus, but I reckon you will love these too! xxx"

What a lovely set of DT projects!
We cannot wait to see what you will be inspired to create!
