Special Guest Spotlight on Tilia

It is a real honour to present our Guest Designer this month, Tilia!  Tilia has been amazing us with her entries in our challenges.  Her April entry with its lovely colours and dimensional layers blew us away and we're so honoured that she agreed to be this month's Guest Designer.

Tilia: Hello, I'm very happy to be the guest designer this month at More Than Words. My name is Magdalena, in social media you can find me as Tilia. I live in a small village near the capital of Poland. I've been scrapbooking since 2013. I started by making cards... now my favorite forms are layouts and mixed media projects with lots of layers. Love of flowers makes my world go around and I've got to limit myself not to overuse them.

You can see more of Tilia's work on her social media links below:

Our June Main Challenge:
Word Inspiration - Hello
Creative Challenge - DOORS & WINDOWS

Tilia's interpretation of our challenge:
Tilia:  I've always seen books as DOORS to other worlds. It was very useful during the pandemic. When you have to stay home books can take you wherever you want. You just need to find any book which is interesting to you and say "HELLO" to adventure.

A big THANK YOU to Tilia for joining us as our June Special Guest!

We hope that Tilia's beautiful project inspires you to join us

Special Guest Spotlight on Valerie Ouellet

It is a real honour to present our Guest Designer this month, Valerie Ouellet!  Valerie's entry in March blew us away with it's beautiful blues and greens!  We are so happy to be able to share more of her stunning work with you!

Valerie: Hello, I'm Valerie from Quebec. I've been scrapbooking for about 12 years. I have been part of many creative teams for the past few years. Now I create for myself and for fun. I also create my own hand-drawn stamps "Designed by Valerie". In addition to scrapbooking, I love drawing, and yoga. I hope my page will inspire you.

Here is a reminder of our May Main Challenge.

Word Inspiration:  FUNNY
Creative Inspiration:  STRIPES

Valerie's interpretation of our challenge:
Valerie: For this challenge, I used a FUNNY picture of my little daughter. My daughter loves to have fun in the snow and I like to capture the moment with my camera. Every time I see this picture, I feel like I hear her laughing. I used "Funny" as a title. The creative challenge "STRIPES," inspired me to use only striped paper and washi tapes.

A big THANK YOU to Valerie for joining us as our May Special Guest!

We hope that Valerie's beautiful project inspires you to join us

We are so excited to introduce you to Margarita Shkludova from Belarus this month! We absolutely adored her February entry that featured rust and old ships, so we were thrilled when she agreed to be our Guest Designer.

MARGARITA: Hello, creative souls! My name is Margarita Shkludova. And this month I will share my inspiration with you as a guest designer. I have loved creativity since childhood! I’ve been in scrapbooking for 5 years and I love mix media with all my heart! Paints, waxes, pastes are my passion. And I like to share my mood and inspiration. You can get to know my art in the following social media links. May the inspiration be with you!  Bye-Bye!

Here is a reminder of our April Main Challenge.

Word Inspiration:  EVERYDAY
Creative Inspiration:  BUGS AND BIRDS

Margarita's interpretation of our challenge:

Margarita: I live in Belarus. This is a country full of forests and lakes. So I made a forest layout embellished with some of the BUGS that live in it. The forest surrounds me EVERYDAY. I see it from the windows, I go for a walk there, I like to breathe air filled with aromas of fir and pine trees. This is my familiar world, which is full of natural magic!

Special Guest Spotlight on Asia Szczurowska

We are introducing someone to you today, who's beautiful work is sure to put a smile on your face and chase the troubles of the world away.
Asia Szczurowska is here to delight with her beautiful art journal pages.

ASIA: My name is Asia and I live with my family in Wroclaw, in Poland. I have been playing with handicrafts for several years. Initially, I mostly did cards for my family and friends, but about 3 years ago, I decided to do more projects and I started to use mixed media on them. Now, I can't imagine my project without gesso, modeling paste, stamping in the background, and playing with colors of course. Mixed media gives me a lot of joy and lets me feel like a "semi-artist" or "almost an artist". ;)

You can visit Asia at the following links:

Here is a reminder of our March Main Challenge:

Word Inspiration: FOOD
Creative Challenge: SQUARE PHOTO

Asia's interpretation of our challenge:
ASIA: I love photos with family, friends, and from important celebrations. Since I don't take too many photos of FOOD, it was an easy task for me to choose this one (actually two) for the current challenge. I used photos from my wedding, where both my husband and I were already tired but very happy. The cake in the picture is highlighted with purple light (my favorite color) and we are on it, together with our dogs. SQUARE PHOTOS are easy to integrate into art journal pages. All you have to do is pull the composition sideways so that the whole page does not look empty.

When you think of FOOD, nothing is more elegant than a wedding cake; and Asia's art journal pages are truly elegant and beautiful.  She has shown us how to incorporate two SQUARE PHOTOS into an art journal and connect them together with layers of coordinating mixed media.

A big THANK YOU to Asia for joining us as our March Special Guest!

We hope that Asia's beautiful project inspires you to join us

Special Guest Spotlight on Lydia Guijt

Hello friends. Today we're very excited to put the spotlight on a long time entrant to More Than Words challenges, Lydia Guijt! We are great fans of Lydia's and are sure you will love the project she is sharing with us today!

LYDIA: Hello! Thank you so much for inviting me to be a Guest Designer this month. My name is Lydia Guijt and I live in Houston, Texas. I started with paper crafts quite a while ago and find that it's always evolving. That's the fun of it. Learning new techniques, new products, new styles. I love doing layouts using my own pictures and making cards. No project is complete for me without some flowers!

You can visit Lydia at the following links:

Here is a reminder of our February Main Challenge:

Word Inspiration:  THE PAST
Creative Challenge:  RUST

Lydia's interpretation of our challenge:
LYDIA: What a great mood board this month. I did not have to think twice on what subject it had to be. This castle (ruine of Brederode) has been featured on more than one of my layouts. As you can see, it's old, 13th century old. It fits THE PAST inspiration perfectly. This castle holds a special place in my heart. Almost 30 years ago I had my wedding pictures taken there and my parents did as well, 58 years ago. I used a RUST technique on all the chipboards for the creative challenge, and rust colored sprays for some added effect. Come join the MTW team, and enter this month's fabulous challenge!

What a stunning layout with so many gorgeous layers and colours!  Lydia's PAST inspiration has us wanting to take a trip to the the beautiful ruine of Brederode and her beautiful RUST pieces are a delight to the eye!

A big THANK YOU to Lydia for joining us as our February Special Guest!

We hope that Lydia's beautiful project inspires you to join us

She thrilled us when she explained in her highlight, that he just celebrated his first birthday in December and is now healthy and strong. Way to go little Jax!

Over these past few months, the whole world has cried along with Australia as fires wrecked their havoc across the country. Riptuparna captured the ferociousness of the flames with her SUNSET COLOURS. As a HIGHLIGHT she dedicated her project to the wild and human lives that were lost; with a salute to those fearless firefighters in Australia and from all over the world who came to help extinguish the flames and transport the injured to safety. Our prayers go out to Australia as they rebuild and recover from this terrible disaster.

Special Guest Spotlight on eMKa

We have such a treat for you today. eMKa thrilled us with her Art Journal entry in November, and we were so happy when she agreed to be a guest designer with us this month. She has another fabulous project to share with you!

Let's learn a little more about eMKa in her own words:

Hello! I am very pleased to be the January Special Guest at More Than Words! My name is Magda, in social media you can find me as eMKa. I live in Poland. My projects are created in a small corner of my bedroom. I do various kinds of paper projects. Almost 10 years ago I started from the typical paper projects like cards, and now I'm doing cards, boxes and a lot of mixed-media projects too. I love steampunk style, but I also enjoy creating a really delicate mixed media project in a retro, vintage style.

You can visit eMKa at the following links:

Here is a reminder of our January Main Challenge:

Word Inspiration - HIGHLIGHT
Creative Challenge - SUNSET COLOURS

Without further ado, here is eMKa's interpretation of the Challenge.

eMKa:  How did the word HIGHLIGHT inspire me? One of my highlights is creating art. Yeah, I really like it and it makes me truly happy! When I'm creating, I forget stress and I'm just in heaven. So, today I prepared a mixed media project in one of my favorite styles - steampunk. I added some SUNSET colors: pink, violet, gold, yellow and orange. I hope I was able to inspire you a bit today and I hope you will join us in the fabulous January MTW challenge!

eMKa has kindly shared with us some close up details of her project:

Wow! This is a splendid project! The layers, textures, and attention to details are amazing and we love how the SUNSET COLOURS glow! We also love that eMKa's HIGHLIGHT is "Art", as that is indeed a highlight for many of us!

A big THANK YOU to eMKa for joining us as our January Special Guest!

We hope that you will take inspiration from eMKa's beautiful creation and play along with us in our January Main Challenge
