June 2020 2nd Reveal of Main Challenge -HELLO and DOORS & WINDOWS

Today we're sharing the 2nd Reveal of our June Main Challenge
from the Design Team.

Say HELLO to more inspiration using DOORS & WINDOWS!

Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.

Word Inspiration - Hello
Creative Challenge - DOORS & WINDOWS

HELPFUL TIPS FOR THE CHALLENGE

Do you greet a friend with a HELLO? Maybe you’d like to welcome a new baby, say hi to a relative or introduce a new pet? Or maybe just a simple Hello title works for you. We need to see in your project how our word inspired you. If it isn’t obvious in your work, then please explain it in your post.

We often welcome friends at our doors and DOORS and WINDOWS can symbolise new opportunities or new directions in our lives. We want to see doors and/or windows on your project!

Please check out ALL our challenge rules in the RULES tab above
for further clarification.

Now let's see what the rest of our fabulous DT has come up with,
inspired by the HELLO and DOORS & WINDOWS Main Challenge!

Sab: Hi to everyone! I love this challenge so much because I love DOORS & WINDOWS!!! There are a lot of brands that use them in their releases!!! You have a lot of choice!!!! So I say to you "HELLO!" and we are waiting to see your entries!

Anastasia: Huge creative greetings and HELLO!
One of my favorite quotes is: "If you are not traveling, then you will read only one page from the book of life." I hope that soon we will be able to travel, open WINDOWS in the car (as on my layout about autotravel), and new DOORS. And yes, as you can see... DOORS and WINDOWS can not only be in the house, but also in the caravan!

Jolande: Even though I have lived in the Netherlands for most of my life, I do not know our capital well. Fortunately, there is Ilse Huizinga, who often introduces me to Amsterdam through her beautiful photos. She opened the DOOR to Amsterdam for me. I made "HELLO discover Amsterdam" for her as a thank you. I hope to bring the layout to her soon. Who knows, she might have time to show me her beloved Amsterdam so that I can see it with my own eyes. Thank you Ilse for the beautiful photo I got to use.

Yulia: For our June Challenge, I made a canvas about dreams, about the sea. For me, the sea is a source of inspiration, relaxation. Don't you just want to open the DOOR of the house and say "HELLO, sea! I'm back! :) To create the background, I used sprays from Lindy's and Gold waxes from Finnabair.

Dana: Walking into our current house for the first time nearly 2 years ago, was like saying HELLO to an old friend. We immediately felt a connection to the space. Our house was built in 1928 and we fell in love with the old wood DOORS and WINDOWS, which are just a few of its many charms. We are enjoying uncovering its secrets and are slowly making it our home.

Cecilia: HELLO Spring, flowers, morning breeze! That's all I need each day. Of course a delicious cup of coffee helps with the early start to a new day! This is an altered old WINDOW frame with handmade shutters.

HEIKES AUGENBLICK
Heikes: I count myself so lucky to live in a country where there is equality between man and woman. Not all girls and women in this world have this happiness. So I would like to share my thoughts about these women in this layout. They experience, every day, a new oppression and injustice. The "DOORS and WINDOWS" should stand as a symbol for more openness about this situation. I wrote the word "HELLO" on the doorhanger.

HEATHER McMAHON
Heather: My daughter and I got arty together when she shared lockdown with us and we designed some collage papers. Coincidentally, one of the ranges included doors and windows and I had a blast including them here.
I believe that, even though we still have many restrictions in place due to covid-19, people seem to have come to the realisation that we all need to help each other out. There seems to be so much love and support in the world right now.
I used the closed DOORS and WINDOWS to represent the way we've been confined but I believe we'll come out of this saying HELLO to a better world.

Sarah: Moroccan DOORS have always inspired me with their architecture, but also by their beauty. I chose to scrap a DOOR photographed at Rabats two years ago. We often say "HELLO" outside our doors, that's why I chose to put the word alone without anything else.

Our design team has shared their HELLO inspiration
with you using DOORS & WINDOWS.

We hope that they will have inspired you to play along.

June 2020 Main Challenge - HELLO and DOORS & WINDOWS

Welcome back to another Main Challenge at More Than Words!
This month we are saying HELLO to DOORS & WINDOWS!!

Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.

Creative Challenge - DOORS & WINDOWS

Now let's see what our fabulous DT has come up with,
inspired by the HELLO and DOORS & WINDOWS Main Challenge!

Lanusia: Being next to big animals can be a phobia sometimes... Try not to be afraid. Just come closer and say HELLO.. In a quiet voice..

Priya: This month's main challenge is very interesting and I used a DOOR in my project. I used the colours teal and brown here to bring in a vintage touch. I hope we can all open our doors and greet each other HELLO without the fear of the pandemic and the world becomes normal again. It's too bad to stay behind closed doors.

Linda:  HELLO Spring! My favorite time of year! It was fun creating this whimsical scene. I fussy cut the photos of my grandchildren and placed them on the WINDOW ledge, and then surrounded them with all my favorite things of spring... pussy willows, bunnies, daffodils, and most of all the songs of the birds... these things all make me happy!

Elle: This is the cover to my new journal which I plan to use for nature art and drawing, which is why it is so green lol. On the front cover is the
DOOR to the new journal, and I thought I would add the "HELLO - adventure awaits you" to greet myself every time I open the journal to use it.

Rosalie: My inspiration for the word HELLO is a beautiful photo of my sister and her husband leaving the church as Mr & Mrs for the first time. This little chapel had such a beautiful quaint look with cute WINDOWS and DOORS. Mount Tamborine in QLD – beautiful.

HEMA

Hema  "Everyday we say HELLO to new doors which open and bring new beginnings and change. This month's challenge is about DOORS and WINDOWS. While this recent pandemic has put us all indoors, it has also taught us new lessons and brought changes in our personalities. These changes were my inspiration for the challenge."

Daisy - When I first met my nephew, I exclaimed "HELLO beautiful boy, it's nice to finally meet you." I was so happy that the family was growing. For the creative twist I used a WINDOW chipboard by Dusty Attic.

Anna:  DOORS and WINDOWS are such an interesting objects. Some people may see it as something closed - I usually see them as something that might be opened! I'm curious - what's behind, but sometimes just the mystery is enough.
Very often when I'm travelling I take pictures of interesing doors. Here I used stock photos that caught my eye with their color. Such an interesting topic to use in the art journal. The words don't need explanation "HELLO. Adventure awaits you. Be open to whatever comes next".

Katrin:  "On the last trip that I made before the disaster, I was able to say HELLO to the splendid city of Burano, one of the islands of Venice, which I will never forget. I love this photo showing all the DOORS and WINDOWS along the canal."

Our design team has shared their HELLO inspiration

May 2020 2nd Reveal of Main Challenge - FUNNY & STRIPES

Today we're sharing the 2nd Reveal of our May Main Challenge
from the Design Team.

They have created some beautiful interpretations for you!

Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.

Word Inspiration - Funny
Creative Challenge - Stripes

HELPFUL TIPS FOR THE CHALLENGE

Where would we be without the FUNNY things in our lives? Laughter is the best medicine and we all enjoy those funny moments. What does the word funny inspire you to create? We need to see in your project how our word inspired you. If it isn’t obvious in your work, then please explain it in your post.
To add to the challenge, we want you to add STRIPES to your project. We don’t mind if they’re bold or soft, wide or narrow, so long as they’re stripey!

Please check out ALL our challenge rules in the RULES tab above.

Now let's see what our fabulous DT has come up with,
inspired by the FUNNY & STRIPES Main Challenge!

DAISY: The word FUNNY inspired me a lot. I am a person who loves to have fun and do crazy things. To represent the word funny, I chose this funny photo that I took with the snapchat app. For the creative twist, I used Tim Holtz's STRIPES stencil on my background.

KATRIN MERAGLIA
Katrin: I was inspired by the May Main Challenge, to remember the magical and FUNNY Broadway shows from the 60s and 70s. Comedys were numerous and the lights made everything sparkle like diamonds.  This wasn't a simple project to do but the STRIPED design of the paper helped me create a layout with the strong contrasts of the red and yellow lights behind.

HEMA: I created this art journal page with stamped STRIPES, and for the FUNNY word element I captured a pic of three friends having a fun time. I have 2 best "crafty" friends, and we all live far away; but the element of fun that we share is tremendous. Even though we are in the same industry, where competition is ongoing every minute, we are still able to share so much fun girl stuff. Until the day this photo was taken, we had never met each other! Can you believe this!! Yes, we are the best of friends!

LANUSIA: Memories... from my childhood... being little kids, we often had our own secrets, played different games, followed our special rituals. One of them was looking for flowers that were unordinary. We believed that they will bring us happiness... in those days it was very serious... but nowadays I find that really FUNNY. Just a superstition!!! For the creative STRIPES side of the challenge, I used straight lines in my background paper.

ELLE WILSON

ELLE: Life is FUNNY now… every time I venture out of the house to go foraging (or rather food shopping)… the animals are outside looking in at us and we are inside looking out! My painted STRIPES came in handy for a little bit of pandemic journaling!

PRIYA: This is a FUNNY moment of my son, captured well. He loves mangoes, and he loved his mango fruit toy so much as a kid, he would carry it around always. He was just 7 months old here and didn't have any teeth. Still whenever he saw a mango, he tried to bite it. In this picture he is holding his mango toy. For STRIPES, I used two different striped papers, one in the background and one below the photo.

ANNA: I am not a big fan of stripes. I always prefer dots and circles, but... I have a friend who loves stripes and wears them a lot. :) We are completely different people in many, many ways, but there is at least one thing (ok! of course there are more!) in common for us... we can joke and laugh in almost every situation. We were laughing when our worlds were falling apart more than once or twice... we were laughing even when we were crying... we were laughing in the middle of the night in the ER... and we laugh every time we speak! :) When I think "FUNNY", when I think "STRIPES", she is the first person who comes to my mind! :)

ROSALIE: My FUNNY moments are pictures of my granddaughter Ameila dressed up in her work gear to go shoppng with her dad for hardware. She insists on wearing her 'work gear' just like dad. STRIPES are in the paper, mixed media and embellishments that reflect the stripes on Junior Tradie Hi Vis top.

Our design team has shared their FUNNY inspiration
with you using STRIPES.

We hope that they will have inspired you to play along.
